How can Counselling help you?

At different times in our lives we are faced with situations that become overwhelming.  We may also have experiences from our past which we have not resolved and still impact on our daily lives. This can cause us to feel distanced from those around us and isolated from what is going on. We may not have an appropriate or helpful person with whom to share our feelings.  Sometimes, talking about how we are feeling can be extremely helpful and can reduce an often felt sense of anxiety.

What I am able to offer you

I trained as a Humanistic Counsellor and have been in practice for twelve years.

I offer face to face counselling in West Sussex, UK and I'm based in the Chichester area

If my location is not convenient for you and you Iive elsewhere in the UK, I can also work with you through  phone or "zoom" sessions.

I am a qualified Clinical Counselling Supervisor.

The basis of my model is person-centred and over the years in practice I have integrated many other counselling approaches but always endeavour to maintain an approach based on unique client need.

My Therapy Practice

I qualified with a BA (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling in 2011. I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am also a qualified and experienced clinical supervisor undertaking one to one and group supervision sessions.

I have a person-centred approach and I believe that we each have the innate ability to move forward but at times, accessing this ability can feel impossible. Events, relationships and circumstances in life can be difficult for numerous reasons. Sometimes these can feel insurmountable and cause us to lose our sense of hope. Thinking about having counselling is a major and sometimes daunting first step but is a brave move forward.

Practice Description

I work face to face and also undertake phone and zoom counselling sessions.

Mental health can be fragile, but in therapy, by gaining an understanding of how we work as individuals and what may be going on for us internally can be illuminating and help us to grow. I see the counselling relationship as a journey made together to explore, discover and to unearth hidden resources. Working creatively with words, art and nature can also support change and re-ignite hope.

I have a wide experience of working with trauma, both with adults and young people. The impact of trauma often goes unacknowledged and is misunderstood by others. Trauma can have a continuous and wide-ranging impact on those experiencing it. I am interested in the ever-developing knowledge of neuroscience and trauma and the brain/body connection.
